Placed 8th in National Tour Points.

Skylar Gee 2017 ASCS Lucas Oil Sprint Car Dirt Series Rookie of the Year

LEDUC, Alb.  (November 14, 2017)  What a year it has been for Skylar Gee and team. It was a major step for them to make the jump from regional racing to the National Tour.

“We are happy to announce that we will return to the ASCS National Tour for the 2018 season. I cannot thank everyone enough who has helped us along the road this season”, announced Gee.

Carlan Services, Pat Beck Motorsports, Gee and Gee Racing, Shark Racing Engines, Strongs Crane Service, Impact Coatings, Napa Auto Parts (Fox Creek AB) Clark Construction, Global Power Services, Shane Liebig, Hoosier Racing Tire, Ace Manufacturing, Driven Racing Oil, Wings Unlimited, Camp Vinyl, Penske Racing Shocks, Dale Richards, Steve and Conny Reeves, The Rilat Family, Brian and Dave Sundby, Jimmy Carr, Ken Woodruff, Scotty Evans and Lisa Davies.

As the young Gee gets set to make a run for the ASCS National Tour Championship for 2018, the 18 year old has even bigger plans for the near future.  The ultimate goal of running the World of Outlaws tour like his father, Tim Gee, did back in the 1980’s is still his biggest priority.  Gee knows that it will take a big commitment financially and mentally to get to the big show before he turns 21, but the dream is alive and well.

Mesilla Valley Transportation saved the weekend

Mesilla Valley Transportation Delivers Skylar Gee To Cocopah Speedway

LEDUC, Alb. (November 9, 2017) When Skylar Gee set out in pursuit of the 2017 ASCS Brodix National Rookie of the Year, his number one goal was to not miss a race. That goal was nearly dashed with the finish line in sight as issues with the team’s truck had them stranded in Dallas, Texas.

Frantically looking for a truck, a call to Royal Jones with Mesilla Valley Transportation was all it took to deliver the No. 99 to the 2017 finale for the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network at Cocopah Speedway in Somerton, Ariz.

“Royal saved the weekend for us for sure. We wanted to make the full schedule, and thanks to him, we get to accomplish that,” commented Gee.

Making it just in time to check out Wednesday’s Fan Fest, the team took the opportunity to test the car during Wednesday’s practice session, despite running on three hours of sleep, “We’re tired, but we made some laps tonight and the car felt really good so hopefully we can carry some speed into the weekend.”

Skylar’s second venture to the Arizona oval, the driver of the Carlan Services No. 99 looks to improve over his last visit during the 2015 Winter Heat.

“I feel a lot better coming into this event. We got really beat down during Winter Heat, but this time, I feel like I’m racing in class. Overall, I’m really happy with the car and the engines, so we’ll see what we can do.”

Special thanks to Sammy Swindell for jumping in and offering his expertise.

Skylar Gee Captures Top 10 In Short Track Nationals Debut

LEDUC, Alb. (October 18, 2017) Skylar Gee’s first trip to the COMP Cams ASCS Mid-South Short Track Nationals was a successful one with the Carlan Services No. 99 rolling to a 10th place finish in Saturday’s $15,000 to win feature event.

“It was a great weekend for us. We unloaded and were fast right out of the gate so it definitely showed us we are getting better,” said Gee who is the leading Rookie with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

Coming out of Thursday’s opener with a 14th place in the 25-lap preliminary feature, Gee was 12th overall in event points. That brought running Friday into question, with the team deciding to go ahead and draw in. The decision was pivotal to the weekend’s success.

“We figured we’d a least try and run Friday. Whether we made the show or not, we wanted to learn about the track a little bit more, and ended up we ran way better than we did Thursday and jumped from 12th in points to fourth, so that really helped.”

Of the improved performance, Skylar gave special thanks to Sammy Swindell for jumping in and offering his expertise.

Still having to run in a Showdown Qualifier on Saturday, the 10 lap affair was worth double points with Gee capitalizing with a run from sixth to fourth to secure the final transfer into Saturday’s big dance.

“It was such a relief,” commented Gee, who made the show with an engine assembled by his father. “I’ve had to run a lot of B-Mains this year in order to make the show, and it helped us to where we weren’t having to scramble. I just felt like we were able to be more focused on what we needed to do in the feature.”

Following I-80 Speedway Fall Brawl

Skylar Gee Is Colorado Bound

LEDUC, Alb. (October 6, 2017) Continuing to pick up speed through his rookie season with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network, Skylar Gee hopes to keep that momentum rolling as he makes his first visit to the El Paso County Raceway on Friday, October 6 and Saturday, October 7,

“The place looks pretty neat. Looking at pictures and videos, I’m excited to get there and see what we can do. More than that, we’re ready to do some short track racing,” said Skylar who leads the Brodix ASCS National Rookie of the Year standings.

Rolling out of the Fall Brawl at I-80 Speedway, Gee again was able to race his way into the A-Feature, where he was able to advance from 17th to 12th, despite the track narrowing throughout the event.

“I made a few mistakes the first few laps, and that cost me, but as we went on I was able to pick those spots up and start really moving through the field. I feel I would have probably finished top-ten if I hadn’t missed it at the start, but overall it was a good run.”

Carlan Services No. 99 making the cut all three nights

Skylar Gee Makes The Cut During Hockett/McMillin Memorial

LEDUC, Alb. Can. (September 30, 2017) Skylar Gee can count his trip the 7th annual Hockett/McMillin Memorial a success with the Carlan Services No. 99 making the cut all three nights with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented the MAVTV Motorsports Network.

“It was kind of bittersweet. We were really good Thursday, but Friday we weren’t as good. Not really sure what we did wrong. We didn’t really change much, but I think the track just threw us off a little bit, but we hung on and finished,” commented Gee of his preliminary nights that saw a best finish of 14th during Thursday’s A-Feature.

Setting Gee into a Qualifier on Saturday, Skylar raced on position shy of a direct transfer into the show, but was able race through the B-Main to better his overall weekend finish with a 13th place showing from the 19th starting spot.

“We had a car capable of transfer out of the Qualifiers, but we just couldn’t seem to get the moves to work, but we made it through the B-Main, and had a great car in the feature.”

Setting sights on another new facility, the No. 99 will venture to the high-banked, I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb. on Saturday, September 30 for the Fall Brawl.

“I haven’t watched anything on I-80, but I’ve talking to the BDS Motorsports team and they said it’s fast, but you can race so I’m pretty excited to get to another new track.”

No. 99 takes on Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark.

Skylar Gee Ready For Riverside Debut

LEDUC, Alb. (August 23, 2017) Skylar Gee is looking forward to getting back on a short track as the driver of the Carlan Services No. 99 takes on Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark. on Thursday, August 24 with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series National Tour presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network.

Off a return visit to the Missouri State Fair Speedway this past Sunday, Gee was less than thrilled with the outcome of his weekend at the half-mile.

“We were looking to have a lot better run than we did for sure. I just flat out made a mistake in the Heat race that knocked the front end out of it. After that, we were just buried the rest of the night,” commented Gee.

Making his debut at the “The Ditch”, Gee feels good to get back on a quarter-mile.

“I’m looking forward to getting back to short tracks. I haven’t really run a lot of big tracks, so the smaller tracks just really suit my driving style better.”

Commenting that his father, Tim Gee, had experience racing at Riverside over 30 years ago, Skyler said his dad described the track as ‘unique’. All the more reason that Skylar is excited to see what all the hype is.

Following Top Five At The Rushmore Rumble

Skylar Gee Looking For Strong Gold Cup Performance

LEDUC, ALB. (July 19, 2017) When you get the call from Doug Rutz to race in front of your hometown crowd, you don’t say no. With that in mind, Skylar Gee is headed north this weekend for the 62nd running of the Jim Albert Memorial Gold Cup at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alb. Canada on Friday, July 21 and Saturday, July 22.

“I’m really excited about this opportunity. I would never have thought I would get the chance to race for Doug at the Gold Cup. I have a lot of respect for him and for Travis in what they were able to accomplish together, so like I said, I’m just really excited,” commented Skylar who won the Gold Cup in 2015 after starting 11th.

Just off the Rushmore Rumble with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network, Gee picked up a weekend best fifth place finish during Friday’s preliminary A-Feature after starting eighth.

“It was a good run, but it seems like every time we have a good car, we are starting so far back it makes it hard to really show how good we are, but at the same time, it shows we can move forward. We’re getting better every night and I feel like we’re getting close to our first National Tour win,” commented Gee of his Friday night performance.

Tenth the following night, Gee was lurking just outside the top five for most of the race until a late race restart.

“We’re not sure what happened. The car was a little free all night, but after the caution, it was really loose like a tire sealed over. I think we would have been sixth or seventh had the caution not come out.”

Ended his weekend with a ninth place finish

Skylar Gee Ends Grizzly Nationals With Top 10 Finish

Starting the weekend off with a 12th place showing, Gee found himself struggling to keep pace despite starting outside the front row. Starting to the outside of the third row on Saturday night, Gee again slipped backwards but was able to keep the car inside the top-ten.

“We were really good early on both nights, but honestly it was a really disappointing weekend for us. We had a lot of success there last year and figured we’d be better, but we just couldn’t get it working the features,” commented Gee. “I just made some mistakes that cost us.”

Taking the week to go over the Carlan Services No. 99, Gee got some assistance from BDS Motorsports owner, Bryan Sundby. Taking in what the veteran car owner had to say, Gee was very appreciative of the tips.

Moving east to Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City, S.D. for the Rushmore Rumble on Friday, July 14 and Saturday, July 15, Gee hopes to get his momentum rolling again at the big half-mile. One year ago, Skylar placed eighth in the preliminary A-Feature.

“We were fast here last year. We’d only seen it one time, but showed some good speed. We did a lot of work on our program this week so we’re hoping to get some top finishes going into Knoxville. ”

Skylar would again like to thank Strong’s Crane Services in Billings, Mont. and the Liebig family in Rapid City, S.D. for their continue support of the No. 99 team
